Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto to open summer 2020

Japan: The Mitsui Fudosan Group have named its flagship property Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto, opening in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City, next year.

The hotel has been developed by a team of specialists: Andre Fu for the interiors, Shunsaku Miyagi for the landscaping, and Yohei Akao for the restaurant and spa.

The team has been led by Akira Kuryu, master design advisor and recognised for his blend of architecture with the surrounding environment.

The property features 160 guest rooms, Onsen Suite rooms equipped with open-air natural hot spring baths, a a Presidential Suite.

It’s two restaurants will serve an all-day dining menu made from ingredients sourced across Japan.

The 1,000 square-metre spa includes a natural hot spring, a communal thermal Onsen spring bath, two private natural Onsen spring baths, and four treatment rooms.

Located at the centre of the property, a garden measuring 1,300 square-metres focuses on ‘Teiokuichinyo’ – the harmony of garden and architecture. Stone lanterns and rock features are used to create a natural vista.

General manager, Manabu Kusui, said: “Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto will represent the true essence of Japan, the world-renowned city of beauty, culture and heritage. Kusui added: “Nowadays, luxury travellers are looking for self-reflection and enrichment in their travels, with the chance to connect on a deeper level with their destination and local community. Our team includes a concierge consultant with intimate knowledge of Kyoto, Japan at large and the international travel scene to help us to develop experiences which invite guests to go beyond the tourist trail and discover meaningful connections within the city”.

The hotel will be managed by Mitsui Fudosan Resort Management Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd.

The Mitsui Fudosan Group is expanding its business operations of hotels nationwide, and is looking to promote hotel projects in Japan and overseas.
