UK: The lakeside hotel, The Ro, will open this July in Bowness-on-Windermere following a multi-million-pound refurbishment.
The 87-room hotel has been reconfigured by APM Design Ltd and architect Mason Gillibrand. £7 million was invested in the project.
Formerly The Hydro Hotel, some original features have been retained whilst others have been altered. For example, the hotel’s conference and meeting rooms have been updated and can now cater events for six to 200 guests.
The Ro will provide all day dining at Lacu at The Ro, serving local cuisines as well as locally sourced drinks.
The significant refurbishment has been undertaken by investment group, Lake Merritt Hospitality. The hotel will be managed by UK management company 7 Hospitality Management.
In 2019, Hydro Hotel entered administration after a £1 million renovation project led to cashflow issues. The property was then acquired by Thai-based Lake Merritt Hospitality.
