US: IHG has unveiled its renovations to The Franklin Hotel, the newest member of its boutique Voco brand.
This is the debut property for the brand in the US, which aims to combine the playfulness of boutique hotels with the consistency and comfort of established brands.
The Franklin was originally opened in 1930 as a conversion of a brownstone apartment complex. Its extensive renovations include new spa-like showers, high-quality TVs, renovated rooms, and free wifi for guests.
Voco launched in 2018, and currently has 16 properties open worldwide, mostly in the UK. Notable locations include Oxford, Reading, Cardiff and Solihull, with an opening set for Edinburgh next year.
The brand has also planned further expansion into the US and Middle Eastern markets. Hotels in St Augustine and Columbia are set to join the brand in early 2021, while plans are in the works for a property in Qatar.
The company has a further 23 properties in its global pipeline, with plans to reach over 200 in the next ten years.
Ginger Taggart, VP for Crowne Plaza and Voco, said: “We’re thrilled to bring the Voco brand to the critical American market. The historic design, modern upgrades and inviting ambience are a perfect blend of old and new. Our guests will love the fresh, modern design that still honours the iconic heritage property, and also will appreciate the cleanliness and sustainability measures that ensure a responsible stay.”
