Kimpton Hotel Arras opens in Asheville

US: The 128-room boutique hotel opened its doors October 1, 2019, and is a historic transformation of the former BB&T Bank building in downtown Asheville.

Owned by Glenn Wilcox and John McKibbon, the property was developed by McKibbon Places and will be managed by McKibbon Hospitality.

Design features include the display of artwork from nearly 20 artisans and purveyors local to the region, and floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Mandara Hospitality Group, of restaurants Peter and Martha Pollay from Posana, is behind the two independent restaurants adjacent to the hotel, opening today.

Executive chef, Jordan Arace, will head Bargello – a Mediterranean restaurant with a focus on creating a sense of community around the table. Craft cocktails and shareable bites will available at District 42.

“We’ve put our passion and heart into every detail to create a boutique hotel that truly embodies the vibrant energy and spirit that makes Asheville – a community I call home – so special,” said John McKibbbon, chairman at McKibbon Hospitality. “Kimpton Hotel Arras is a place for both locals and visitors alike and exemplifies the creative culture of the city, from its art galleries and museums to shops, top restaurants and cultural sites. We’ve excited to provide guests a place to relax, eat, drink and connect.”

Guest amenities include morning tea and coffee service, a nightly social hour, and mobile check-in.

An artisanal serenity cart (available upon request) can be filled with books by Asheville authors, lavender sheets and evening cordials, all to be delivered to rooms.

Wellness amenities include a massage room, yoga area, fitness centre, and complimentary PUBLIC bikes.

The mixed-use building also includes 54 one and two-bedroom condos, and ten of the residences will be available for short-term and long-term rentals.
