Spain: The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott’s portfolio of 30 brands, has opened the Santo Mauro hotel in Madrid.
The building dates back to the 18th century and once served as the residence of the Duke of Santo Mauro.
Interior designer Lorenzo Castillo led the renovation of the property, which comprises 49 guest rooms and suites, a library and lounge, two dining venues, and meeting and event space. A new spa and fitness area will open in the second phase of renovations in summer 2022.
Chef Rafael Peña will take over the La Biblioteca and El Jardin restaurants, introducing menus inspired by the meals of noble houses. La Biblioteca is home to books and antiques, whereas El Jardin in the garden of Santo Mauro has a new outdoor terrace.
The hotel already has an indoor swimming pool which will be complemented by the new spa and fitness facilities next year.
For meetings, a part-outdoor event space is also set to be revealed in summer 2022.
