US: Oxford Hotels & Resorts, an affiliate of Oxford Capital, will manage the 247-room Thompson Chicago as of 3 August 2021.

The acquisition marks Oxford Capital’s twenty-fifth lifestyle hotel transaction and fifteenth hotel project in Chicago.

Located in the Gold Coast neighbourhood, Thompson Chicago will remain affiliated with Hyatt’s luxury brand Thompson Hotels as part of the deal.

The hotel’s ground floor restaurant Nico Osteria is set to be revamped. Private dining rooms with reception areas, as well as six two-level Thompson Loft Suites are available for events, meetings and receptions. Three additional loft suites feature private outdoor terraces.

Interiors have been designed by Tara Bernerd & Partners. The hotel originally opened in 2013.

“We felt this was a compelling opportunity to acquire a great asset in an excellent location and at an attractive price,” said John W. Rutledge, founder, chairman and CEO of Oxford Hotels & Resorts and its parent company, Oxford Capital Group. “We believe the timing of this transaction coinciding with Chicago’s post-pandemic recovery progress is auspicious. We are also sanguine that our national experience, as well as our longstanding history in Chicago and its various submarkets, will position Oxford and its investors for a successful outcome.”
