Beachfront bungalow

Caribbean: Reopening in November 2021, Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort on Saint Lucia will undergo an extensive renovation involving new accommodations and updates to its F&B venues, spa and more.

Closing for five months beginning 1 June, Sugar Beach will reopen to the public on 1 November debuting nine accommodations, a brand-new beachside fitness facility, and a refreshed spa and culinary outlets.

The property is currently home to a variety of dining venues from fine-dining to al-fresco. All are set to receive a luxury upgrade along with the addition of a new open-air bar experience.

Catering to the demand for private stays, four one-bedroom beach bungalows and five one-bedroom cottages on the mountain are being built.

The main pool area, which sits beneath the UNESCO Pitons mountains, will be renovated to reveal a multi-tiered design. It will feature cabanas, a poolside bar, and special events lawn.

At the Rainforest Spa, one couples treehouse treatment room will be added, bringing the total of treatment rooms to 10. The new addition will be built on stilts overlooking the forest, complete with an indoor bathtub, outdoor shower and balcony.

When the spa reopens in November a new spa partner will be announced along with a revised treatment menu. A centrally located wellness and fitness facility is also being built on the beach and will be home to a gym and yoga studio.

General manager Mark Sterner said: “We are excited to kickstart this multi-phase renovation journey that will bring a new and elevated luxury guest experience to our already celebrated Sugar Beach property. Every aspect of the renovation has been thoughtfully designed to bring the best out of each space and provide a new level of service, privacy and hospitality to our valued guests. Those visiting in November can expect to see Sugar Beach completely revived and like they’ve never experienced before.”
