Park Plaza Amsterdam regains sustainability certificate

Netherlands: The famous hotel Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam regained its green globe certification at the end of last year.

The boutique property first gained it in 2018, regaining it during a stringent audit.

The Green Globe sustainability certification is the international hospitality industry standard for sustainability, being represented in 83 companies and serving as an affiliate member of the UN World Tourism Organization.

The hotel prides itself on sustainable design choices- including green meeting rooms, usage of eco-printers and sustainably sourced paper, and modern spaces with built in eco-tech. The hotel’s bar will also donate four euros for every specialty green cocktail sold to the World Childhood Foundation and the Nottinghamshire Wildlife trust.

The commitment to sustainability goes so far as ensuring that the restaurant’s offerings only include sustainably sourced options and offering paperless options at check-in and check-out.

The Park Plaza brand has seen strong development in Amsterdam’s capital as of recent, with the Victoria replacing their head chef in November and with the PPHE Group, owners of the brand, opening a new hotel in the Vondelpark.

Of the opening, PPHE CEO Boris Ivesha said in a press release: “I am delighted to see the colourful, individual and striking design complement the unique guest experience touchpoints throughout the hotel… We look forward to welcoming business and leisure guests to our latest premium boutique hotel.”
