UK: London Hotel Group (LHG) has been granted planning permission to convert the former Magistrates’ Court and two adjacent school buildings into a 293-bed property.
Scheduled to open in 2022, the conversion of the Grade II-listed building is expected to cost around £70 million, according to Construction Enquirer.
Designed by Squire and Partners, historic features will be retained and a new public square will be introduced around an existing tree.
Four new buildings, in various heights from two to seven stories, will be added along the back of the building.
Once completed, the ground floor and one of the school houses will contain a bar, a restaurant, and a cafe. Other hotel facilities include a gym, a pool, conference space, as well as on-site parking.
