Permission secured for East Hampshire hotel

UK: Planning permission has been secured for a new 73-room East Hampshire hotel

A 73-bedroom hotel and resort in Bordon, Hampshire has received planning permission.

The 24-key Headley Park Hotel, which has been out of use since 2015, will be refurbished. The changes will include the addition of 14 lakeside lodges and a family cottage.

Senior planner at Planning Potential, Grace Mollart, said: “The site is absolutely stunning and provides the perfect setting for a luxurious, considerately-designed rural retreat. We’ve been working with an experienced ecologist to ensure the site will be managed sensitively and enhanced following a number of years of neglect.”

She added: “The narrow footprint of the existing building limits service areas, restricts circulation, and allows limited space and light for the letting rooms. Through our planning application, we worked hard to secure an uplift of more than 8,000 sq m of usable floor space, which clearly makes the new development much more attractive and viable.”

A newly-built barn will house a spa, wellness centre and restaurant. A number of dilapidated outbuildings will be refurbished to provide staff accommodation.
