US: Hospitality management, development and investment group Raines has acquired The Waynesville Inn Golf Resort & Spa with plans to renovate and refurbish the boutique property.
The 111-room hotel and 27-hole golf course will join Raines’ boutique hotel division, Woven by Raines. It marks the third property in the Woven by Raines portfolio, and extends the firm’s footprint in western North Carolina joining The Foundry Hotel Asheville, Curio Collection by Hilton.
Renovations will begin this summer and is expected to last between 16-24 months. Plans involve a full restoration of the hotel and golf course, along with additional constructions such as practice facilities, golf cottages, restaurants and more. The hotel will remain open and operational for the duration of the project.
Raines is in the process of selecting local architects to assist with the repositioning. Bobby Weed Golf Design will oversee the golf course design, modifying the course to a traditional 18-holes. Chef John Fleer of Asheville’s Rhubarb and Benne on Eagle restaurants will program the food and beverage offerings.
David Tart, manning partner of Raines, said: “The history and beauty surrounding the Waynesville Inn Golf Resort & Spa are unmatched and the same can be said for the entire Waynesville community. On behalf of the Raines team, we look forward to starting renovations on the historic lodging and golf course, ultimately delivering an experience in Western North Carolina like no other.”
Grey Raines, managing partner of Raines, added: “We are excited to further expand our footprint into the beautiful Western North Carolina market. The Waynesville Inn Golf Resort & Spa will be an excellent addition to the Woven by Raines portfolio, alongside The Foundry and Hotel Florence. Our experience as owners ourselves, curated with expert leadership and a tailored service approach, is what makes Woven the best in its space.”
