Morocco: Owners Mike and Lucie Wood, of the Marrakech Riad – a collection of boutique properties – have opened their fifth riad.
Located close to the Marrakech Museum and Ben Youssef Madrasa, Riad Spice consists of 10 bedrooms, a dipping pool, roof terrace and other areas to relax.
Its Boudin-style bedroom, Paradise, situated on the roof, is complete with private terrace and raised, tented area overlooking the city.
Housed in a sixteenth-century building, the property has been refurbished to retain its original features. Highlights include bright white décor and traditional plasterwork.
Photovoltaic solar panels and an air source heat pump have also been installed at the hotel.
Co-owner of Marrakech Riad, Mike Wood, said: “We opened our first riad well over a decade ago and have seen an increased demand for luxury accommodation from our guests. The rooms and suites at Riad Spice are bigger than our other properties and it’s superbly well-located to take advantage of the city’s newest museums and restaurants. The deep roots we have in this area, coupled with all the touches that have proved successful at our other properties, will go towards making this our most exceptional riad yet”.
Marrakech Riad includes five boutique properties: Riad Star, Riad Cinnamon, Riad Papillon, Dar Habiba, and Riad Spice.
