UK: Located in Hayes, west London, the Fountain House Hotel has undergone a multimillion pound renovation and relaunched as the four-star Rosemay Boutique Hotel.

Owners Yousuf Ali and family received planning approval in 2022 to transform the former Fountain House Hotel. PTP Architects have reimagined the property alongside RO-CO Building Contractors, with project oversight by Cliff Wills from Ivy House Consulting.

Beginning in June 2023, the renovation has seen the creation of 50-seater coffee house and the addition of four extra bedrooms. Rosemay Boutique Hotel now offers 32 luxury guest rooms and an outdoor garden.

Buse Dastan Architects have overseen the interiors of the hotel. Features pay homage to George Orwell who used to live in the area and resided on the premises of the hotel. It was here that he wrote his inaugural work Down and Out in Paris and London and adopted the pen name George Orwell during his stay.

As a result, the renovation also included a dedicated library wall featuring George Orwell publications as a nod to the building’s history.

Ali said: “Our dream for the Rosemay Hotel goes beyond providing luxurious accommodations. We envision a boutique retreat that not only offers comfort but also enriches the guest experience by paying homage to literature and our community’s heritage. We believe this unique blend will position Rosemay Hotel as a memorable destination for travellers seeking both comfort and cultural enrichment.”

The official launch of the property is expected in the coming months.
