Japan: The Royal Park Canvas – Kobe Sannomiya, a 170-room lifestyle hotel, will open on Thursday 21st January and marks the first hotel in the Hyogo Prefecture area from Royal Park Hotels and Resorts.

The interior and exterior design of the hotel is inspired by the ocean and the mountains that surround Kobe city. The property will feature 170 rooms, a Canvas Lounge, and a gym.

Planned events include jazz performances (since jazz music came to Japan through Kobe), as well as other classes in local handicrafts.

Kobe is the sixth largest Japanese city located in the Kansai region on the western side of Japan. Sannomiya is the centre of the city.

Yuichiro Miura, general manager of The Royal Park Canvas – Kobe Sannomiya, said: “We are very much looking forward to welcoming our guests to our new hotel and the city of Kobe. Kobe is truly a gem for visitors to experience with its open and welcoming culture that embodies both traditional and cosmopolitan facets. Being at a short distance from Osaka, Kyoto and the UNESCO World Heritage Himeji castle, it is also the perfect base to explore the Kansai area. There are hardly any lifestyle hotels in Kobe and its surroundings and we feel that The Royal Park Canvas – Kobe Sannomiya appeals to travellers looking to truly connect with the local culture.”

Royal Park Hotels and Resorts, which forms part of the Mitsubishi Estate Group, currently operates 14 hotels with a total of 3,569 rooms. The company’s THE series includes three brands including The Royal Park, The Royal Park Canvas, and The Royal Park Iconic.

Following the launch of The Royal Park Canvas – Kobe Sannomiya, the group plans to launch three hotels with a total of 550 rooms in 2021.
