San Antonio Northwest Hotel undergoes conversion

US: The DoubleTree by Hilton property has been redesigned by Dallas-based MatchLine Design Group.

All 130 guest rooms, public spaces, and the outdoor lounge area, have been reconfigured to include Texas-style decor, fixtures and finishes.

Of priority was an open flow design in the dining and bar areas, to create a more cohesive space for guests.

The colour theme – of turquoise, aloe green, limestone, antique bronze, and “prickly pear” fuchsia – plays to the heritage of San Antonio.

Lesley Hughes Wyman, co-founder of MatchLine Design Group, commented: “The surrounding landscapes were an easy inspiration source. The Spanish roots of ‘Cantera,’ referencing the natural stone of nearby quarries, is a common theme found throughout the materials and palettes we wove into the hotel’s many spaces”.

John W. Freik, president and principal at Paradigm Management, the property’s development company, said: “We’re excited to be a part of the Hilton family and to offer this beautifully expanded and renovated full service hotel to our guests. Our market demands lead us to expand our meeting space, lobby and updating all the rooms with a fresh and contemporary design that will appeal to business and leisure travellers”.

DoubleTree by Hilton San Antonio Northwest is located close to the University of Texas and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Onsite amenities include a fitness centre, a business centre and a pool and patio area.
