Ireland: Raag Hotels have secured planning permission for a 95-room Point A hotel in the Liberties area of Dublin.
Development of the new building will take place on a vacant St Augustine Street site.
The first Point A hotel is scheduled to open in Parnell Street in April 2021. It’s a seven storey, 141-room hotel that will create between 25 and 30 new jobs.
Raag Hotels is a joint venture between Queensway Group and Wellcome Trust. Investment in Dublin for Queensway represents a core pillar of its long-term strategy, citing the city’s excellent hospitality occupancy rates (pre-Covid), strong tourist numbers and fast growing corporate segment as key performance drivers.
The announcement marks the opening of the group’s tenth and eleventh hotels.
Joe Stenson, group development director at Queensway Group, said: “Dublin is one of the most buzzing cities in the British Isles, bringing the Point A brand here has been an ambition of ours for a long time. We’re delighted to now confirm that we have a second site in the works.
“Just as we pass the six month countdown to the opening of our city centre hotel, we will soon be breaking ground on a second development in the Liberties neighbourhood which will encourage yet more visitors to the city, and help provide jobs to both the local construction and hospitality sectors,” he added.
Point A Hotels is part of the family-run Queensway Group,. It currently has nine hotels based in London, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
