UK: Christie & Co have announced that they are bringing The Chapel, a Grade II-listed bed and breakfast, to market.
The Chapel is a unique conversion of The Wesleyan Chapel in the heart Harrogate.
Built in the baroque Italianate style, the lavishly styled chapel was initially constructed in 1896. It was renovated in 2009, following the Grade II listing, with designers attempting to capture the antique aesthetics while creating a contemporary bed and breakfast.
Current owners, Mark and Heidi Hinchcliffe, have decided to sell the property in order to pursue overseas opportunities. Christie is advertising it under its current function as a B&B, but have noted that it could be used as an events venue or as a residential home.
Mark Hinchliffe said: “It’s been a great honour looking after this stunning listed building, which has taken us on an incredible journey. We have met some amazing people while being the custodians of this remarkable building and it has been a pleasure to be a part of the Harrogate independent community.”
The hotel is situated within walking distance of both Harrogate’s town centre and its conference centre. Key aesthetic features include six luxury en-suite bedrooms, two spacious reception rooms and a charming breakfast kitchen upcycled with original church pews.
Sam Ashton, senior business agent at Christie & Co, said: “The Chapel is stunning from all angles and as a Harrogate resident myself, it is a real pleasure to be representing the sale of such quality in my home town. The property truly is a unique investment opportunity open to a diverse buyer pool including residential homeowners, guesthouse bed and breakfast operators and for special events, wedding and multi-function businesses.”
