Greece: ON Residence, a partnership between TOR Hotel Group and Grivalia Hospitality, has opened on the seafront of Thessaloniki overlooking Thermaikos bay.

Following an investment of €20 million, ON Residence has opened in a historic building with restoration work completed by architects Diversity Group and Dimitris Thomopoulos.

It features 60 room and suites, the main restaurant Olympos Naoussa, cocktail bar Tiger Loop, a gym and meetings and events space.

Architects Nikiforidis and Cuomo oversaw the design of the communal areas with interiors led by Fabienne Spahn.

Rooms come in a variety of sizes with amenities such as Marshall speakers, Nespresso coffee machines and 55” TVs.

Executive chef Dimitris Tassioulas will oversee Olympos Naoussa. The original restaurant under the same name was a popular celebrity hangout until its closure in the mid-90s. It now features a hidden evergreen courtyard. Cocktail bar Tiger Loop completes the F&B offering.

George Chryssikos, CEO of Grivalia, said: “Now, Olympos Naoussa returns to the city of Thessaloniki. Our vision to revive the historic restaurant, and together with the Tornivoukas family, to create a hotel destination of unparalleled beauty and a high level of service is close to completion. We are certain that all visitors will love and embrace it, as we did from the first moment. Grivalia Hospitality is currently implementing an investment program of over €500 million which will contribute to the strengthening of our country’s competitiveness in the international arena of luxury tourism.”

Konstantinos Tornivoukas, CEO of TOR Hotel Group, said: “After the violent shutdown of the Mediterranée Hotel by the catastrophic earthquake in 1978, my dream has always been to be able to return to the city’s seafront with a project that would have the dynamics of the legendary hotel founded by my grandfather in 1925. When the property that housed Olympos Naoussa, which was connected to the Mediterranée due to their close proximity and similar history, went up for auction I considered this more than a business opportunity. It was also an act of gratitude from our family towards our beloved city to restore this historic restaurant, and at the same time create a hotel of high standards that would turn the page for luxury hospitality in Thessaloniki. The partnership between TOR Hotel Group and Grivalia Hospitality has allowed us to realise this dream.”
