Uno Hotels acquires two UK country house properties

UK: The Hickstead Hotel in Bolney, West Sussex, and The Grovefield House Hotel in Burnham, Buckinghamshire, have been sold to hotel and serviced apartment company Uno Hotels for an undisclosed price.

Uno will run the two assets through two new companies: Cumberland Assets Ltd and Four Hillside Assets Ltd.

The Hickstead Hotel offers 52 bedrooms, a 60-cover bistro, a bar and lounge, as well as conference and wedding facilities. 

The Grovefield House Hotel features 40 bedrooms, a. 80-cover restaurant, a bar and lounge, meeting and event space as well as landscaped gardens.

Vijay Singh Bhandari, founder and director of Uno Hotels, said: “We are delighted to have acquired The Hickstead Hotel and The Grovefield House Hotel. Both the hotels are fantastic historic country hotel businesses that benefit from a loyal base of both leisure and corporate visitors. I’m thrilled to be working with the local teams and have ambitions to update and refurbish the hotels to make them destination hotel venues to suit the calibre of guests we’re looking to welcome.”

The properties were sold in a confidential marketing process on behalf of undisclosed clients by Colliers.

Julian Troup, head of the UK hotels agency team at Colliers, said: “The sale of these hotels was conducted in a highly confidential manner, and yet despite this we still managed to generate competitive interest from a diverse range of buyers, indicative of the quality of these properties and their strategic locations.

“We have seen 2024 get off to a strong start in the hotels market and these sales takes us to 17 completed UK hotels sales already this year and we believe we will continue to see serious interest from both domestic and overseas buyers throughout the 2024,” he added.
