Hungary: W Hotels, the luxury boutique brand part of Marriott Bonvoy, has opened its first hotel in Hungary in the country’s capital of Budapest.

W Budapest is housed in the Drechsler Palace, previously home to the Institute of Ballet. Interior designers Bowler James Brindley and Bánáti + Hartvig restored and reimagined the property.

It features 151 rooms and suites and three dining venues. Nightingale by Beefbar is the hotel’s main restaurant overseen by restaurateur Riccardo Giraudi and led by executive chef Fabio Polidori. The bar at Nightingale serves cocktails, as does the hotel’s speakeasy basement bar Society25.

Adjacent to the speakeasy is the AWAY Spa which offers five treatment rooms, the WET pool, and a gym where daily fitness and wellbeing classes are held.

Located on the ground floor is the W Lounge which will host DJ sets in the evenings. A variety of meeting spaces are also available to book.

“The debut of W Hotels in Budapest marks a monumental milestone and signals a new era of design ethos for our iconic brand,” said George Fleck, vice president and global brand leader of W Hotels. “We look forward to connecting our guests to this timeless and inspiring city through inviting yet unexpected design, imaginative dining and unparalleled guest programming.”
