UK: 40 hotel assets formerly owned and operated by Shearings Hotels, which went into administration in May, has come under management by Bespoke Hotels in a five-year agreement.

The hotels include: The Derwentwater, The Windermere, The Pitlochry Hydro Hotel, The Caledonian, The Ship and Castle, and the St George. Others are located in key coastal areas and tourist hot spots across the UK, and almost all have joined the ‘Bespoke Hotels’ banner.

Bespoke will begin to reopen these hotels over the coming months, with The Derwentwater, The Windermere and the Pitlochry Hydro Hotel earmarked to reopen in time for the August bank holiday.

CEO at Bespoke Hotels, Thomas Greenall, said: “This news is particularly welcome in these trying times for our industry. This new arrangement ensures that we can create jobs at a challenging time for employees in the sector.”

All 44 hotels operating as part of Bay Hotels, Coast & Country Hotels and Country Living Hotels within the Shearings Group closed their doors permanently a few months ago.

Savills had recently been appointed by administrators to sell two assets, the Grand Hotel in Exmouth and Majestic Hotel in Bournemouth, in excess of £1.35 million and £1.7 million respectively.
