US: Marriott’s independent hotel collection welcomes new properties in San Francisco and Iowa.
The latest affiliations are Hotel Adagio, a luxury boutique property in San Francisco, and the historic Hotel Blackhawk, in Davenport, Iowa.
Originally built in 1929, Hotel Adagio is described as “a landmark structure located in the heart of San Francisco’s Union Square district”. The 171-room property has recently undergone a multi-million dollar renovation, and features The Mortimer, voted one of the city’s best bars and night spots.
Having reopened in 2010 after a multimillion-dollar renovation, the 130-room Hotel Blackhawk features “comfortable furniture and works created by local artists and designer touches throughout. The interiors and amenities of every guestroom and suite are testament to The Hotel Blackhawk’s commitment to maintain the highest of standards in hospitality”.
The new affiliations take the collection to a total of 45 members, with plans to reach its 50 hotel milestone by the end of 2013.
Marriott says: “The vision behind the Autograph Collection is to offer an evolving group of passionately independent, upscale hotels that fall under distinct categories of travel experiences including Culinary Delight, Artistic Getaway, Historic Exploration or Sporting Adventure. Each independent hotel is thoughtfully chosen for its quality, originality, bold character and capacity to offer today’s modern traveler a range of unique and unexpected experiences suited to their individual sense of style and adventure.”
