US/UK: citizenM will open the majority of its upcoming properties in the United States, marking the group’s debut in Miami.

The new openings will take citizenM’s portfolio to 30 hotels across Europe, North America and Asia.

Kickstarting 2022, two properties are scheduled to open in Miami. The 252-room Miami Brickell features facade artwork by Jen Stark and a rooftop bar and swimming pool – a first for citizenM.

The Miami World Center property, which was first announced in 2018, forms part of a mixed-use development. The hotel will comprise 351 rooms, a rooftop swimming pool and bar, four meeting rooms, and facade artwork by FriendsWithYou.

Also slated for Q1 2022 is an opening in Seattle – a second outpost in the city for citizenM, joining South Lake Union which opened in 2020. It will feature 232 rooms and artist Ryan! Feddersen has been commissioned to create a large mosaic art installation.

Other upcoming locations include Washington DC, London Victoria (Q2 2022) and Chicago Downtown (Q4 2022).

For 2023, citizenM will add seven more properties to its portfolio: Rome (the first in the city), Paris (a fifth property), London (a fifth location), Miami (a third site), Boston (the second in the city), Menlo Park (a benchmark project for Facebook’s campus), and Austin (a first for the brand).

citizenM has doubled its hotel count since 2018 and continues to seek new development in gateway cities across North America and Europe.

Recently, the group raised $1 billion to support its expansion plans. GIC, APG Asset Management and KRC Capital all participated in the funding round.
