UK: Dalata Group, Ireland’s largest hotel operator, has bought Hotel La Tour in Birmingham for £31 million.
The hotel, on Park Street in the city centre, is around 100 yards from the proposed site of the HS2 Curzon Street railway station.
Opened in 2012, the 174-bedrooms hotel features the first Mr White’s English Chophouse,the latest brand from Marco Pierre White. It will be rebranded as a Clayton hotel in the final quarter of this year.
Dermot Crowley, deputy CEO for business development and finance at Dalata, said: “Hotel La Tour in Birmingham represents an outstanding opportunity to operate a newly built hotel in the centre of one of the largest cities in the UK. The acquisition is consistent with our stated strategy of rolling out both our Maldron and Clayton hotel brands across the larger UK cities.”
