UK: The Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club, JB Duke Hotel and The Lodge at Duke Medical Center have relaunched the Manager In Training (MIT) Program for graduates.

The 12-month rotational program allows participants to develop hotel manager skills across different departments, including rooms and F&B. Participants rotate through hourly positions in each department.

After completing the course, graduates are considered for leadership roles at one of the hotel properties.

Deana Merrell, area director of human resources, said: “After pausing the program for the past two years, the timing is right to officially relaunch our celebrated MIT Program with a fresh take on the training and skills development offered to candidates. We have many successful team members that were part of the original program who are still with us today and hold leadership positions at our properties.”

Washington Duke Inn’s MIT Program is designed for those interested in hotel management positions and have completed a two or four year degree in tourism and hospitality management.

The Washington Duke Inn, JB Duke Hotel and The Lodge recently raised base pay for hourly employees to $15 per hour, and has introduced two more paid holidays: Martin Luther King Jr. Day and each employee’s birthday.

Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club is located on 300 acres of land. Amenities include the Bull Durham Bar, Fairview Dining Room, an 18-hole championship golf course and executive conference centre.

JB Duke Hotel is home to The MarketPlace Restaurant and the adjacent MarketPlace Barista Bar.

Boutique property The Lodge is situated across the street from Duke Medical Center and Durham VA Medical Center. The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle to the medical facilities Monday – Friday.
