UK: The Eden Hotel Collection has teamed up with recycling and resource management company SITA UK.
Eden and SITA have devised a strategy to significantly improve environmental measures across the group’s seven luxury hotels. The group’s operations team began discussions with SITA UK in early 2012, with the idea of a group contract for all seven hotels in mind.
Â
SITA UK employs ground-breaking initiatives such as converting plastics to diesel fuel, while Eden was looking into cost savings by partnering with a recycling company, giving them the opportunity to manage and monitor waste management in a more structured and environmentally conscious way.
Â
All seven hotels are now recycling food waste in addition to plastic, cardboard paper and glass.
Â
Statistics from SITA show that as the hotels have more than doubled recycling across the group from 23% to 48% in May 2013.
Â
Josefine Blomqvist, operations manager at Eden Hotel Collection, said: “We are delighted that we have been able to reduce our waste across the group by such a significant amount. Protecting and conserving our environment is a responsibility that we take very seriously at Eden Hotel Collection and we are pleased to be doing our bit.”
Â
Eden Hotel Collection is aiming to fine tune current practices in order to increase recycling even further to 60% by the end of 2013.
