Global Hotel Alliance adds Tokyu Hotels & Resorts to portfolio

Japan: Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) has extended its GHA Discovery loyalty programme to more than 40 hotels under Tokyu Hotels & Resorts (THR).

GHA offers a network of almost 1000 hotels in 100 countries across 50 brands.

Around 34 million GHA loyalty members will now benefits expanded to Tokyu’s hotel and resort properties across cities such as Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto.

The partnership will launch in two stages. In April 2027, the first stage will incorporate four brands — The Capitol Hotel, Tokyu Hotel, Excel Hotel Tokyu and Stream Hotel. Full partnership with GHA will commence in September 2027, folding in four more brands and 24 hotels into an offering totalling 42 properties across eight brands.

“Through our diverse portfolio across Japan, we aim to serve as a gateway for international travellers to gain a deeper understanding of Japan,” THR president Takashi Takei said. “We’re excited to become part of a network that shares our commitment to excellence and guest satisfaction.”

THR’s loyalty programme, Tokyu Hotels Comfort Members, will be relaunched as Tokyu Hotels Discovery this autumn.

“With Japan seeing a sustained boom in tourism, our agreement with Tokyu Hotels is both timely and strategic,” GHA CEO Chris Hartley said. “We look forward to welcoming such an authentic and well-established Japanese brand into the GHA family — it will mark a key milestone in expanding our presence in one of the most dynamic travel markets in the world.”
