UK: IHG’s lifestyle brand is to sponsor the inaugural UK Fashion & Textile’s (UKFT) award for best newcomer.
The award recognises and rewards the talent of either a business or individual considered a true rising industry star. The 2013 finalists for the Hotel Indigo UKFT Rise Newcomer Award are Charlotte Taylor, Emma Shipley and Hancock. The winner will be revealed at a ceremony in Mayfair on 23 May 2013.
“The three finalists all demonstrate exceptional talent – each with an individual design style – from Charlotte Taylor’s strong tailoring, bold silhouettes and popular prints, to Emma Shipley’s skilled draftsmanship, luxurious scarves and interior textiles, and finally Hancock’s rubberised fashion inspired by English inventor and Father of the British rubber industry, Thomas Hancock,” said the awards organisers.
Tom Rowntree, VP brand management & quality Europe, from IHG said: “The UKFT Rise Newcomer Award recognises the outstanding achievements of some of the industry’s most talented individuals and businesses. The award showcases the creativity and ingenuity of some of the UK’s foremost young designers, which is something we celebrate in every one of our hotels. From the vibrant use of colour, contemporary design and striking interior décor, every Hotel Indigo hotel is individually designed to embrace the character of its local neighbourhood. We’re proud to sponsor an award that helps to uncover some of the fashion and textile industry’s most inspiring rising stars, hopefully helping to find that next big thing.”
Vogue Fashion Features Editor and UKFT Awards judge Jessica Bumpus said: “There were some great entries in this category ranging from the newer and up-and-coming to the more established brands, proving what a great breadth of fashion talent we have – and those that were shortlisted each have something different to offer.”
