UK: The Autograph Collection, Marriott’s portfolio of independent hotels, has added St. Ermin’s Hotel in the Westminster area of London, to its ranks.
St Ermin’s, the venue for the first Boutique Hotel Summit in 2011, is the third Autograph Collection hotel in the UK, following the recent addition of Threadneedles in London and The Glasshouse in Edinburgh.
The property was converted from a Victorian apartment block to a hotel in 1899, and is located within a short walk of Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, and St. James’s Park. The Grade II listed building retains numerous original Victorian characteristics, and enjoys an illustrious history, having served as the headquarters of the British secret service during World War II. It underwent a major refurbishment between 2010 and 2012.
“This is an incredibly exciting time for the Autograph Collection, and a significant event for us in a prime, central London location,” said Amy McPherson, president and managing director for Marriott International in Europe. “Our three Autograph Collection hotels in the United Kingdom offer travellers an enviable range of artistic, culinary and cultural adventures and this historic hotel is a hugely powerful addition. “
