Hyatt adds 60 properties to its loyalty program

Hyatt Hotels has announced it is adding more hotel brands to its World of Hyatt loyalty program this year.

Hyatt Hotels is starting by adding Thompson Hotels this week and Joie de Vivre Hotels in mid-May.

The company said stays at Thompson properties will earn credits in the loyalty plan starting March 28, 2019 and stays at Joie de Vivre hotels will qualify beginning May 15, 2019. Other brands coming into World of Hyatt soon include Alila Hotels and Destination Hotels, Hyatt said.

All four brands are part of Hyatt’s purchase of Two Roads Hospitality last Autumn, giving it a total of 60 more properties in eight countries.

That acquisition came shortly after Hyatt made a deal with the marketing company Small Luxury Hotels to include its 500 independent properties worldwide in the World of Hyatt program.

The luxury/boutique Thompson Hotels group includes locations in Los Angeles, Seattle, New York City, Chicago, Nashville and Toronto, as well as resorts in Cabo San Lucas and Zihuatanejo, Mexico.

Joie de Vivre Hotels is a San Francisco-based collection of 19 boutique properties around the U.S., but mostly in California. Its hotels in San Francisco include the Galleria Park, Hotel Carlton, Hotel Del Sol, Hotel Kabuki, Hotel Vitale, The Marker, and the Laurel Inn. Its roster also includes the Waterfront Hotel in Oakland, the Wild Palms Hotel in Sunnyvale, Hotel Avante in Mountain View, Carmel Valley Ranch, and the Avatar Hotel in Santa Clara. Joie de Vivre also has locations in New York City, Chicago, Baltimore and Washington D.C.

Destination Hotels has some urban locations like the Hotel De Anza in downtown San Jose, The Derek in Houston, Hotel Motif in Seattle and the Royal St. Charles in New Orleans, but its portfolio includes mostly resort properties. In addition to the California resorts mentioned above, Destination Hotels also operates L’Auberge de Sedona and The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch in Arizona; several ski properties in Vail, Aspen and Snowmass, Colorado; eight locations in Hawaii; and resorts in Oregon, Washington State, Texas, Utah, Vermont and Virginia.

Alila Hotels & Resorts is a luxury brand with properties mostly in Asia. The one U.S. hotel in its roster is California’s recently refurbished Ventana Big Sur Resort (previously the Ventana Inn). It has eight hotels in Indonesia, three in India, two in China, and one each in Malaysia, Cambodia and Oman.

Hyatt is offering a 2,000-point bonus for the first qualifying stay at each brand, plus a free night after a stay at all four brands. World of Hyatt credit card holders will earn an extra 4x bonus points when they spend at Thompson Hotels, and Hyatt credit card holders will get an extra 3x bonus points.

Hyatt also recently created a new elite-level linkage between World of Hyatt and American Airlines’ AAdvantage program and added new “benchmark rewards” for World of Hyatt members when they achieve specific point levels.
