Kessler Collection eyes California wine country

US: The Kessler Collection is aiming to develop its first California property, with Healdsburg in Sonoma County its favoured location.

According to a report in the local newspaper, The Press Democrat, a private parking lot just south of the Healdsburg Plaza is targeted as the site for a new Kessler Collection boutique hotel.

The proposed project is likely to feature between 60 and 70 rooms over four or five storeys. It was reported that the Kessler Collection has settled on Healdsburg after looking at sites in Napa, Petaluma and Sonoma.

Kessler Collection chairman and CEO Richard Kessler released a statement saying: “In the near future, we will propose to the City of Healdsburg a comprehensive development of a 4-star boutique hotel. It is certainly our intention to offer a product and service that does not presently exist in the market and would be a benefit to the citizens of Healdsburg and the surrounding area. We will be working closely with the City of Healdsburg and elected officials to achieve this goal.”
