UK: Mariott has bought four sites in the UK for its Moxy “affordable luxury” brand.
Marriott International expects the UK to be one of the key markets for Moxy. In partnership with Ikea it has bought sites near London’s Heathrow Airport (which already has approval for a 422-room hotel), Stratford City shopping centre (a 250-room hotel is already planned for this site to open in 2015) and the Royal Docks, as well as a site in iIverppol.
The company p;lans to open 38 Moxy hotels over the next two years. The first is scheduled to open at Milan’s Malpensa airport in September this year.
Five further openings have been confirmed for 2015 in Berlin (two hotels), Munich Frankfurt and Oslo, with another 13 locations set to be revealed by the end of 2014.

Marriott plans to open 150 Moxy hotels within 10 years.
