Morgans management wields the axe as a third of corporate staff are laid off

US: Morgans Hotel Group has laid off “at least a third” of its corporate staff this week, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.

Morgans recently indicated it needed to reduce costs, and the cuts of more than 20 staff included top executives and longtime employees, affecting “most parts of the company, from operations to the legal group”, according to reports.

Jason Kalisman, the company’s acting chief executive officer and chairman, said last month that the board was planning to “reduce costs and corporate overhead.”
