Caribbean: The Oetker Collection has taken over management of the Hotel Saint-Barth Isle de France on St. Barthélemy in the French West Indies.

The hotel has 39 rooms, suites and villas individually decorated by British designer Penny Morrison. It is undergoing a refurbishment program which will introduce 12 renovated garden bungalows, and revamped public areas in the main building and reception. The resort’s restaurant, La Case de l’Isle, is also being refurbished.

General manager Christelle Hilpron, will stay in her position, as will the current owners, although Oetker has bought a stake in the property.

Didier Le Calvez, president and managing director of Le Bristol Paris, a member of the Oetker Collection, will oversee the hotel on behalf of the Oetker Collection. “Having had the chance to manage some of the finest hotels in the world such as The Pierre in New York, The Four Seasons Hotel George V and now Le Bristol Paris, I have discovered a lot of similarities with Hotel Saint-Barth Isle de France. It is a privilege to have the opportunity today to supervise such a well-established name in the hotel world pursuing its long standing strive for excellence, under the leadership of Christelle Hilpron.”

Frank Marrenbach, CEO of the Oetker Collection, said: “We are very excited to add the multiple award winning Hotel Saint-Barth Isle de France to our collection – a great property turned into a very special home by Charlie and Mandie Vere Nicoll. Hotel Saint-Barth Isle de France fits perfectly with our portfolio in a prime location with architecture that epitomizes the destination, outstanding individualized service meeting guests’ highest expectations. The way Charlie and Mandie Vere Nicoll became the owners of Hotel Saint-Barth Isle de France is very similar to the way the Oetker family have become owners of their hotels: regular guests, charmed by the destination, enchanted by the place and convinced by the high end service.”

The Oetker Collection also includes Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa in Baden-Baden, Germany; Le Bristol Paris; Hôtel du Cap Eden-Roc on Cap d’Antibes’ Château Saint-Martin & Spa in Vence on the French Riviera; and Palais Namaskar in Marrakech, Morocco.
