Pier South Resort opens after construction delays

US: Piers South Resort, a 78-room boutique hotel in Imperial Beach, California, has opened its doors to guests.

The $28 million development – a member of Marriott’s Autograph Collection – was originally scheduled to open in spring 2012 but has been delayed by construction issues.

Developer Pacifica Companies has spent more than $4 million on upgrades to the original design of the hotel, which is on the site of the former Seacoast Inn.

Allison Rolfe of Pacifica Companies said: “We are thrilled to open the doors of this one-of-a-kind eco-beach resort to the public. It is our honour to develop a project that will serve as an economic catalyst for the community and put Imperial Beach on the map.”

The hotel is home to Cohn Restaurant Group’s SEA180 restaurant which features “contemporary beachfront dining and a Baja-Med cuisine with Pacific Rim, French, Italian and Mediterranean flavours”.
