Australia: Perth-based Scope Property Group has bought The Local Hotel building in South Fremantle for AUS$2.5 million.

Formerly known as the Seaview Tavern, the South Terrace venue was renamed The Local Hotel and reopened in September by Phil Thompson and Ross Macpherson, who will continue to manage the property.

Following an extensive renovation and building upgrade, the hotel features several bars, a restaurant, a beer garden and boutique accommodation.

“We are pleased to have acquired an iconic hotel in a premium location which will provide investors with secure, long-term returns,” Scope director Robert Engelhard said.

The Seaview Hotel was built in 1897 – making it one of Western Australia’s oldest hotels. In recent years has become a well-known haunt of Fremantle Dockers Australian rules footballers..

The hotel was previously part-owned by former Dockers captain Matthew Pavlich.
