UK: Liverpool based hotel operator and developer Signature Living will open the Dixie Dean hotel in the city in July after a £10 million transformation.
The operator, which has a portfolio of 10 hotels including 30 James Street and the Shankly Hotel, will unveil phase one of the project on July 12 with the launch of the No.9 restaurant and bar.
The 100-bedroom boutique hotel has been built as a tribute to Everton and England footballer Dixie Dean and is situated on Victoria Street overlooking Signature Living’s flagship hotel The Shankly, named for Liverpool’s legendary manager.
The project is a joint venture between Lawrence and Katie Kenwright’s Signature Living Hotel Group and the family of Dixie Dean; including his daughter Barbara Dean and granddaughter Melanie Prentice.
Signature Living chairman Lawrence Kenwright said: “I am thrilled and delighted that we will get to open the doors to the Dixie Dean on the 12th July. Our goal was always to build two iconic hotels that would represent the two greatest football teams in English football and to leave a lasting legacy to Everton and Liverpool football clubs.”
Signature Living is due to open another football-themed hotel, the George Best in Belfast later this year.
Last month, the company put 30 James Street and the Shankly Hotel up for sale for £57 million.
