Caribbean: Savills Hospitality Group has been retained by developer Jalousie (1996) to assist in raising joint venture equity or debt for the expansion of Sugar Beach.
Formerly known as The Jalousie Plantation, Sugar Beach is an 18th-century, British Colonial-style resort set within a 125-acre estate in the valley of the Pitons, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site. It is operated by Viceroy Hotels and Resorts.
Marc Magazine, executive managing director of Savills LLC, said: “Sugar Beach is the finest resort in St. Lucia and one of the very best in the Caribbean. Both the owner and Viceroy have proudly collaborated on an exquisite renovation and look to expand the resort and its highly devoted client base.”
The resort features 78 guestrooms, six restaurants, beach frontage, spa and recreational amenities. It has undergone a multi-million dollar renovation since its acquisition in 2008. The transformation to Sugar Beach, a Viceroy Resort was completed in 2012.
The expansion plans include the addition of 36 keys, with a combination of rooms, villas and treehouse villas.
Viceroy CEO Bill Walshe will be a speaker at the 2014 Boutique and Lifestyle Hotel Summit.
