UK: Washingborough Hall wins a Best Loved Hotel Award
Washingborough Hall has won the award for Hotel of the Year in the East of England in this year’s Best Loved Hotel Awards.
The Best Loved Hotel Awards are designed to celebrate excellence across properties in Britain and Ireland. Nominations opened in June 2017; Best Loved customers were invited to nominate hotels where they had stayed and experienced ‘best in class’ stays.
Dating back to around 1730, Washingborough Hall has a rich and varied history. It was once the home of the Ingilby family, which at the time, was one of the richest families in Lincolnshire. Present owners Lucy and Edward Herring took over the hotel in 2008. The hotel has a 2AA Rosette award-winning restaurant run by joint head chefs Mark Cheseldine and Anthony Smith.
Washingborough Hall has also been awarded the title of Wedding Venue of the Year two years running in Lincolnshire Life’s Taste of Excellence Awards and has been nominated for Wedding Venue of the Year, Hotel of the Year and Restaurant of the Year for 2017. It has also been shortlisted for Hotel of the Year in the Select Lincolnshire Awards 2017.
Edward Herring, owner of Washingborough Hall, said: “[T]o be voted the best hotel in the whole of the East of England should stand us in good stead for the future. Lincolnshire is a beautiful part of the world and anything we can do to attract more visitors is not only good for us but also for the county and the local economy which we are very keen to support. Earlier this month we also reaffirmed our standing as the top wedding venue in the county, having won Wedding Venue of the Year for the third consecutive time in the Taste of Excellence Food and Drink Awards.”
