UK: Watergate Bay Hotel is in talks with developer Urban Splash about opening a 60-bed hotel in the Melville building at Plymouth’s Royal William Yard.
While discussions are in the early stages, Watergate Bay told Plymouth’s The Herald it wanted to open the hotel by 2015 in one of two blocks still undeveloped at the former naval victualling yard.
A Watergate Bay spokesman said: “While there is a long way to go before a deal is signed, the intention is to open a hotel in 2015, in the flagship Melville building in the heart of RWY, with the development centering around the distinctive clock tower and courtyard. The hotel will include 60 bedrooms, as well as two restaurants, a cocktail bar, health club and spa and an events space for leisure and conference use.”
The Watergate Bay Hotel has benefited from at least £12 million in investment since 2000, including a £3.6 million boost this year to complete a holiday cottage development.
