Welsh boutique hotel up for sale for £2.7 million

UK: The Harbourmaster in Aberaeron, Ceredigion, is on the market for £2.7 million.

The 13-room property was opened in 2002 by husband and wife team Glyn and Menna Heulyn. It reportedly has an annual turnover over £1.7million and currently employs 26 staff.

The Heulyns have decoded to four their efforts on running the Harbourmaster’s sister cafe bar restaurant, Baravin, in Aberystwyth.

Glyn Heulyn said: “It’s twelve years since we created the Harbourmaster. What started as dream has turned into a roaring success and we are so pleased on its positive effect on Aberaeron and the local economy.”

A spokesman for Christie + Co, which is handling the sale, said: “This iconic landmark on Aberaeron’s harbourside has 13 bedrooms, 11 of which are doubles. A 50-cover restaurant and bar add to the business’ boutique flavour, while seating outside affords views over the harbour. While the majority of the guest accommodation is housed in the main Harbourmaster building, two can be found in the charming Harbourmaster cottage, situated just two doors away and which, like the main building, is Grade II Listed.”

Jonathan Hill, director of Hotels for Christie + Co in Bristol, added: “The Harbourmaster is one of the most visually-distinguishable buildings on this part of the Welsh coastline, and a superb hotel and restaurant business to boot. Its chic and cool styling makes it an extremely popular destination for dining and accommodation, with good year-round trade generated from both locals and tourists alike. It is a highly-desirable business and we expect to attract a high level of interest from prospective purchasers.”
