UK: Independent hotel chain Point A Hotels has appointed Muinat Abdul as the brand’s chief exploring officer (CEO), who will embark on fully-paid trip across the country.
Last month, Point A announced that the company wanted to appoint a CEO to join the team on an all-expenses-covered, fully-paid trip to curate a ‘to do’ list across the UK.
The appointment comes as Point A launches a new membership scheme. The A-List Explorer allows guests to stay up to 21 days in a 28 day period at any of the chain’s hotels across central locations for £900 a month.
Abdul, a social media editor and content creator at Buzzfeed, will travel to London, Edinburgh and Glasgow this summer. Current plans include visiting London landmarks aboard the Thames Rocket, a morning yoga class at the Sky Garden, and afternoon tea aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh.
As part of the role, Abdul will document her journey and experiences across Point A’s social media channels.
Speaking about the appointment, Abdul said: “I applied for the CEO role because I absolutely love travelling. I always share recommendations of where to go in London or Manchester, so this felt like an amazing opportunity to take it to the next level.
“I’m looking forward to trying new experiences – you can live somewhere your whole life and not actually do anything that may be seen as touristy. I’m really excited to push my horizons, and hopefully find loads of new things for visitors to see and do.”
Nic Wenn, managing director at Point A Hotels, added: “We are absolutely thrilled to have Muinat on board. Her enthusiasm and eye for fantastic digital content really stood out to us. I cannot wait to see her start her journey, we’ll all be glued to Point A’s social media to see what sort of antics Muinat gets up to.”
Point A Hotels, part of the family-run Queensway Group, has ten hotels based across London, Dublin, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
