UK: Alex von Ulmenstein has been appointed to the newly created role of director of F&B for the three London hotels under the Starhotels Collezione brand – The Franklin, The Gore and The Pelham.
Ulmenstein joins Starhhotels from Wentworth Club, where he served as director of food and beverage. Prior to this, he spent over five years at Relais & Chateaux Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa, joining as restaurant manager before rising to food and beverage operations manager.
Beginning his career in Stellenbosch, South Africa, Ulmenstein joined the Delaire Graff Restaurant at the Relais & Chateaux Delaire Graff Estate in 2010 where he remained until his move to the UK.
Speaking about his appointment, Ulmenstein said: “I am excited to be joining these three beautiful and unique city-centre properties at this key moment as London emerges stronger from the pandemic and re-establishes itself as a leader on the global hospitality stage. I am looking forward to working with each hotel to individualise and truly enhance the dining experience for our guests and to invest in our teams to ensure we are developing them to their full potential.”

Starhotels is a family-owned Italian Hospitality Group with 29 hotels across a number of cities including London, Paris and New York. 12 properties fall under the Starhotels Collezione brand, with the majority being based in Italy.
