UK: Part of Iconic Hotels & Resorts, Strand Palace has promoted Jill van Rest to general manager, the property’s first female GM since 1998.
Van Rest will succeed managing director Matthew Beard.
She has been part of the Strand Palace team for more than six years. During this time, the hotel has undergone a £57 million refurbishment including a full redesign of the 788 bedrooms, and throughout the pandemic the hotel also stayed open for key workers.
“It’s a privilege to step into the role of general manager at Strand Palace, and I’m proud to build on everything the team has already achieved,” said van Rest. “Having been part of the team for several years, this role means a great deal to me… moving from daily operational management to overseeing all areas of the business.
“I look forward to continuing to elevate every part of the guest journey, my focus over the next months will be to re-establish Strand Palace as a key location for meetings and events in Central London and working with the fantastic colleagues at Iconic Hotel & Resorts to make this beautiful hotel even more successful.”
Strand Palace, located in Covent Garden in London, features a restaurant and bar, a cocktail bar, afternoon tea lounge, and 16 flexible meeting and event spaces.
