UK: St. James’ Court, A Taj Hotel has finished a multi-year refurbishment project to its London property in Westminster with the addition of redesigned public areas, upgraded event facilities, and an enlarged private members’ club.

The luxury hotel, which is just steps away from Buckingham Palace and St. James’s Park, has renovated its lobby and ground level, giving guests a fresh and modern welcome. The project also involves the opening of 1897 – The Bar, a new bar inspired by the year the building was built.

Conran and Partners is behind the redesign of the refurbishment, having worked on a number of Taj Hotels projects in the past. The redesign will modernise the hotel whilst maintaining much of its original Victorian features and character.

The first floor has also been updated with refurbished meeting and event spaces, including the hotel’s ballroom, which can now host conferences, weddings and private events in a more flexible setting. The brand’s invitation-only private members club, Taj The Chambers, has also been expanded to include a second boardroom, a members’ lounge and a new private dining room, plus a second glass roof terrace overlooking the courtyard.

Corinna Luebbe, cluster general manager, said the refurbishment gives the hotel “a clearer sense of identity” while creating spaces that better suit today’s travellers and event guests.
The project is part of a larger investment initiative at St. James’ Court and its sister property at Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences.
