UK: Boutique brand The PIG will open a hotel in Tunbridge Wells following the acquisition of an existing hotel on The Pantiles.

Currently known as The Tunbridge Wells Hotel, the 18th-century Georgian building came to market in November 2025 via Fleurets for a guide price of £2.7 million.

It features 20 bedrooms, a bar and restaurant with capacity for approximately 80 people, alongside a function suite with capacity for 50 seated guests. Subject to paving licence, an external seating area could also hold circa 90 covers.

The acquisition comes months after The PIG exited its Groombridge Place property, also in Tunbridge Wells, due to a hold up in planning complexities.

A statement from The PIG said: “Many will know that there had been hopes to bring The PIG to Groombridge Place. Whilst that wasn’t meant to be, the group couldn’t quite shake the feeling that this corner of Kent still had a place in their story.

“The team’s vision is: it’s somewhere to grab a coffee on your way into work, somewhere for a long lunch that drifts into the afternoon, somewhere to meet friends for a drink and end up staying for dinner, somewhere to prop up the bar a little longer than you intended, and somewhere to stay the night if the evening runs away with you.”

Highlights:
  • Boutique hotel brand The PIG has acquired The Tunbridge Wells Hotel, located on The Pantiles historic promenade in Kent.
  • The 18th-century, Grade II-listed Georgian property came to market with a £2.7 million guide price and comprises 20 bedrooms, an 80-cover restaurant and bar, a 50-seat function suite, and outdoor seating for 90 guests.
  • The acquisition follows the group’s exit from nearby Groombridge Place due to planning complexities, allowing the brand to maintain its expansion strategy in Kent.
  • The PIG will execute a comprehensive refurbishment to reposition the asset into a town-center boutique property while maintaining its focus on local food and beverage sourcing.
