UK: Qatari-owned London boutique hotel Adria is open and welcoming guests.

The property, a converted Victorian townhouse in South Kensington, features 24 rooms, including two suites and two family rooms. Its decor, by designers Urban Velvet is classically British with occasional Arabic touches, a reference to its ownership by Qatar-based Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels.

Rooms feature bespoke furniture by George Smith, and extensive use of marble in the bathrooms.

In keeping with its Arabic ownership, Adria is thought to be the first boutique hotel in London not to serve alcohol on the premises. A shisha room with water feature and retractable roof, and rooms which interconnect allowing configurations to suit guests travelling with families, also cater for the Arabic market.

The hotel claims to have introduced a new dining concept to the London hotel market. The house chef offers bespoke food and beverage menus, providing suggestions specific to guests’ requirements.

Amenities at Adria include a 24-hour house butler service, treatment room, sauna, gym and private dining.

Jestico + Whiles was the architect for the renovation, which took five years.
