Checking in with Christoph Hoffmann, CEO of 25hours Hotel Company

In the latest of a regular series, we check in with leading hoteliers and general managers to get an exclusive glimpse into their careers, their lives and their ambitions. This time, we speak to Christoph Hoffmann, CEO of 25hours Hotel Company.

I enjoy my job because…

It gives me great freedom and profound joy. I am a curious globetrotter and creating new, exciting hotels with local inspiring partners is my lifeblood.

I find my job challenging because…

There are so many impressions as well as moments with great minds; I should never take this for granted and stay humble.

My best achievement in business was…

To focus on sound concepts with soul and inspiration rather than on profitability. And I never took our venture too serious. A twinkle in the eye and a bit of irony helps to stay grounded.

My worst mistake in business was…

So far so good. I don’t remember anything terrible. But as they say: don’t count your chickens before they are hatched!

What I am yet to accomplish is…

To find peace of mind…

If I could change one thing about myself, it would be…

To be more bold on certain things.

If I could change one thing about the industry, it would be…

To take pride in keeping things simple, pure and authentic, with a bit more twinkle in the eye.

My top three bucket list items are…

1) One evening with Leonard Cohen to philosophise on life… 2) A peaceful place on the beach. 3) A wonderful hotel designed only with the people and only for the people I want to be with.

My life philosophy is…

Stay curious…

My favourite song, book or film is…

Book: Le Petit Prince

Movie: Once Upon A Time in America

Song: At the moment its Wild is the Wind… David Bowie or Nina Simon, depending on my mood.

My ideal weekend would be…

Life is not about the perfect weekend…

Be in the know.
