UK: YOTEL is to build a 258-room hotel in Manchester’s Piccadilly district.
The 20-storey tower will be YOTEL’s first non-airport property in the UK and will also include a conversion of the adjacent Grade II-listed Union Bank. As well as the cabin-style rooms, the property will also feature a lounge bar and a kitchen, conference room, meeting rooms, office, gym and public toilets on the ground and first floor.
The scheme is expected to create 129 jobs and boost the city’s economy by £17 million, according to a report in the Manchester Evening News.
It will be built on a site owned by property company Bruntwood, which said it is “very impressed with the quality of the proposed new building”.
YOTEL has hotels at Schipol Airport, Amsterdam, London Heathrow, Terminal 4 and at the London Gatwick South Terminal, as well as near Times Square in New York.
It also plans to open a hotel in Singapore in 2018.
