Australia: The construction process has begun on Crystalbrook Sam, a new AU$130 million luxury hotel development in Adelaide.

The project is the result of a collaboration between property development group Samaras Group and environmentally conscious hotel chain, Crystalbrook Collection Hotels & Resorts. Construction commenced this week with the ceremonial turning of the soil on Halifax Street in Adelaide.

Located at 15-19 Halifax Street in the city, the Crystalbrook Sam development will operate as 13-storey, five-star hotel, offering more than 206 rooms and suites. Amenities at the Adelaide hotel will include a pool, fitness centre, multifunctional event space, food and beverage venue, rooftop bathhouse and spa.

Ghassan Aboud, founder and chairman of the Ghassan Aboud Group, which owns Crystalbrook Collection, said: “Crystalbrook Sam is our eighth hotel in Australia, marking our continuous commitment to enhancing a unique collection of properties that span Cairns, Port Douglas, Byron Bay, Sydney, and Newcastle. Our investment exceeds AU$1billion in regions where we manage around 2,000 rooms, including ongoing developments.”

Crystalbrook Collection CEO Geoff York said: “By 2025, we anticipate a full recovery in international tourism levels, coinciding perfectly with our new hotel launch. Crystalbrook Sam is designed to harmonise with the local community and culture, offering a new pinnacle in sophisticated and sustainable lodging.”

Chris Samaras, managing director of Samaras Group, said: “We aim to provide exceptional experiences that encapsulate the essence of Adelaide and South Australia. Our collaboration with Crystalbrook Collection aims to establish a benchmark in luxury, sustainability, and community engagement, setting a high standard in the local hospitality landscape.”
